    Bedtime, boys! Ohhhh Mummmm!

I got a new computer, y’all! A MacBook Pro. Everyone says software for Mac is really hard to come by, but I’ve got Photoshop already, and some other goodies. Just can’t remember my FTP details, so that’s gonna suck when I go change something.

Work’s been insane, so too insomnia, hence the lack of updates. Last week I had no sleep on the Wednesday night, 4 hours on the Thursday and Friday nights, 8 hours on the Saturday night, then from 9am Sunday to 9am Tuesday had no sleep. The dude at the chemist sold me these Unisom pills, saying they were better than Restavit. He lied. I get more tired after eating a hot dog. Even my trusty Futurama / Simpsons / Married… With Children DVDs didn’t help with the ZZZ’s. But anyway, I’ve had killer sleep for the last 3 nights, and fingers crossed tonight is number 4. Just wished the people in the apartment above would keep it down. Dude, it’s 11:20pm, stop walking on tiles in high heels. It’s sooo annoying.

Andddd yeah. With this Macbook Pro, I no longer need the iPad, so I placed it on eBay with a very generous price. Was bought in an instant, ‘cept it’s now three days later and they still haven’t paid up. God I hate people. If you Buy It Now, you should Pay For It Now. I’ll leave it another day before I do the whole negative feedback thing. She hasn’t bothered answering any of my correspondence, so if she does pay up, I might not bother visiting Australia Post.

    Not Dead Yet

Y’know, I’m really busy these days. As well as work, I’m doing Certificate 4 in something and drinking lots of Pepsi Max. I promise to write something more tonight, tomorrow, or whenever I get the time.

You must be a busy boy, I miss your comments on The Poop Deck.

Good luck with the Cert dude.

    iGotmeaniPhone4

I got an iPhone 4 the other day. I was going to head off to the promised midnight launch until I called Optus to confirm it was still a goer. It wasn’t. The next best thing was to wait until midnight to order it on the Optus website or call Optus. I chose online. But checking at 11:15pm, there it was. Buy/Upgrade Now. So I quickly did, then posted to Mactalk and Whirlpool about my fortunes. Got a few replies going quickly, much praise, then Optus crashed. Bigtime. You couldn’t log on to any of their sites. Hehe.

So the Friday morning came after next to no sleep, and the gentleman from Optus woke me to confirm some details. “Yep, you’ll have it Monday.”

Talk about the longest weekend ever. Then come yesterday, when the Toll Courier man was to deliver it between 9 and 5. By 2:30pm I was restless, and wanted to go out for a bit. Called Toll. “Nup, no delivery for you. Call Optus.” Called Optus. “There’s no consignment number listed here, you’ll have to call Toll”. Grrrr. So I gave up and went to bed. Two minutes later the intercom goes. It’s my iPhone! I raced downstairs and picked it up from AAE, not Toll. First thing to do was stick in the Micro SIM Card which came in the mail a few hours earlier. INSERT SIM CARD. Take it out, put it in. INSERT SIM CARD. More Grrrr. Opened the other junk which Optus threw into the satchel, another Micro SIM! Stuck that in, sweeeeeet.

Now what? Ok, go to Tumblr, and save boob pics, just like with the iPad. And now I have some great wallpapers.

    iPhone 4 Wallpaper

I gotta tell ya, I love the screen resolution. It’s just amazing. I’m thinking of turfing this iPad now. Seriously. It’s so hard to read small text. But the only thing I HATE about the new phone is the nerds who got interviewed at the midnight launch, and answered questions with words like Retina Display and FaceTime. Ugh, is it so hard to just say ‘higher resolution and video calls only to other iPhone 4s’? Seriously, these kids should be shot. And if I was the first in line to buy it, I’d be in and out so I can go home to hook it to iTunes to validate/register the phone and get some apps going, not hanging around cravat-wearing celebrity chefs and B-grade singers.

Oh yes, great wallpapers. This one’s got boob in it, so kids, look away.

    iPhone 4 Wallpaper

Had to update the home screen icons for the higher res screen. They’re now 114px X 114px and look mucho fantastic. So far I haven’t had any reception issues when holding it in a certain way, even without this cheap Chinese rubber strap. Just needa go shopping for a screen protector.

    New apartment, now with photos

The other day I promised you a virtual tour of the new place. Not one to let you down, I’ve dusted off the ol’ Canon camera and got some happy snaps to share.

When you first walk into the apartment, you’re greeted with the office. This is where our computers are set up.

    New place

A few steps forward and to the left, you’re greeted with my bedroom.

    New Apartment

Or you can go to the right and stay in the guest room.

    New Apartment

I have my own ensuite too.

    New Apartment

Enough of the bedrooms, there’s a laundry to do your, well, laundry.

    New apartment

    And ironing.

    New apartment

A full sized kitchen filled with pots, pans and utensils never fails to satisfy my hunger. Plus the fridge is big enough to put lots of beer in.

    New apartment

The couch is out getting repaired at the moment, so we have to make do with this.

    New Apartment

But at least we can still play PS2.

    New Apartment

Unfortunately, the previous tenants were kinda rough, so we’ve been patching up and painting holes and dings in the walls.

    New Apartment

When the elevator died the other day, I had to use the fire escape.

    New Apartment

The basement car park has plenty of room to wash my car in, but.

    New place

God. Damn. The new pad looks like the only place to be, shame your friends won’t be seeing you anymore when you can’t bring yourself to leave…

    Done.

Okay, I’ve finished moving. Finished two weeks ago, but yeah, I’m done. Now I’m waiting for Mr Tax Man to put some cash into my bank so I can go buy me a bed, a real bed, some new tyres and a computer desk. The internet is being real weird and pausing every ten minutes, so I gotta hit reload a bit before it gets going. The iPhone and iPad work a treat though.

But I scored a TV cabinet they were throwing out from work, a really nice one, and we’re waiting for Angela’s couch to come back from the repairman, otherwise everything is going all sweet. Well, except for Parker, her almost-three year old son. Wow. Talk about difficult. Ha! Nahhh, he’s just your typical toddler, and me not being used to having kids [ or women ] around, am taking a bit to get used to crying, screaming, tantrums and whatnot. The other day after graveyard shift was a killer. After being up ALL NIGHT, I didn’t get to sleep until 11pm, like, that was 30 hours with no sleep and minimal caffeine. That shrieking really got to me. These new earplugs I just got are sweet as.

Near the end of Wednesday night, drunk, all pepped up on goofball, I spent an hour on the phone to Chloe, one of Kempy’s friends who lives nearby…sorta. Between here and Brisbane, anyway. I’d love to remember more of the one hour conversation we had, but that lack of sleep mixed with sleeping pills and 8 Platinum Extra Dry beers had me tanked. I remember laughing heaps, but that’s about it.

So yeah. That’s about it. I’ll have to get photos of the place for you once everything is here, when I’ve got a bed to sleep on and a computer desk to compute things on. Oh, if you want some People and Picture magazines, I grabbed some from the old place I was living in. You might like 1994-era boobs.

Tags: iOS4, iPhone 3G, Kevin Rudd

    3 Updates Available

The new iPhone software, iOS4, is kinda like Kevin Rudd. Before it was unleashed, it was full of hype, loads of promises and the change we so desperately needed from previous versions. And like Kevin Rudd, it’s done nothing of importance. 280 or 290-whatever megabytes and an hour of installation later, all I see changed is a fancy new transparent background behind the lower four icons and a new calculator app icon. And a dotted line under words like labour, favour and anything else where American’s forget to put a U between O and R. Retards.

The promise of custom wallpapers is not unlike Kevin’s promise of laptop computers for all kiddies. “Uh, um, I really meant access to custom wallpapers… if you have a 3GS”.

And like Kevin Rudd, the under-performing, outdated iPhone 3G ( It-was-great-when-I-got-it-new ) is getting dumped right now. A new model is just a few weeks away, only instead of iPhone 4, the PM will be named Julia Gillard. And a few months after that, when iOS4 is updated to 4.1, the PM will be updated to Tony Abbott. I just wish Apple gave me $900.
